VitesseRonda Grech, +Copyright Business Wire 2009. AUSTIN, Texas–(Business Wire)–Further expanding its No Polish Connector line, 3M today introduced the new NoPolish LC Connector for both multimode and singlemode fiber applications and theNo Polish Connector LC/APC for singlemode fiber applications. Both enable fast on-site installation of 250 micron and 900 micron terminationsutilizing a one-piece, pre-assembled design. Like other members of the 3M NoPolish Connector family, the newest connectors are designed to save installationtechnicians time while helping to minimize capital investment. The LC NPC is tested for FTTP and premises applications for both indoor andoutdoor locations and is available in SM, 62.5 micron, 50 micron and also 50micron LOMMF (laser optimized multimode fiber) for 10 Gb applications.

The LC/APC NPC is available with a standard, flat splice configuration or with akeyed, angle -splice for excellent back reflection of less than -60 decibels. NoPolish Connector LC/APC Flat Splice Connectors are designed to deliver excellentperformance for digital transmission networks such as at an optical networkterminal that requires a LC/APC termination. No Polish Connector LC/APC Keyed,Angle Splice Connectors from 3M are specifically designed for analog videotransmission with very low optical reflection of less than -60 decibels acrosstemperature extremes. With a factory-polished ferrule assembly and mechanical splice technology, NPCconnectors from 3M can be installed with a simple field tool in less than twominutes and eliminates the need for time-intensive polishing in the field. Astreamlined boot attached to the body of the connector minimizes the chances oflosing or forgetting to install the boot during connection. After installation, the boot will assist in maintaining the minimum fiber bend radius. No PolishConnectors from 3M meet EIA/TIA 568-B.3 and IEC requirements and are RoHScompliant 2002/95/EC.
