Player’s coaches are not overrated?nor are they always an answer

Player’s coaches are not overrated?nor are they always an answer.Willie Randolph didn’t work out in New York. But then again, a player’s coach can be the right tonic on the right team. And Tampa Bay might reap that reward this year or next. What is concerning, however, is that the team plans on being “shockingly aggressive” in free agency. Sounds like next season might be shockingly disappointing with that impatient attitude and mindset. But Tampa has a lot of talent.

If they add a key player or two and play their game right, they might just be able to put something cohesive and effective together. That’s right, a mulleted man might be behind that bench for longer than you can imagine if the chemistry is right. Keep the kids from the barber, because there might be a new sensation in the Sunshine State…Besides, of course, pants hiked up past the belly and socks past the knees.. Editorial:When is all the Dale Sr praise going to stop?Dale Sr. was a great driver and could pull victory from defeat, but it was not always pretty.Whenever Dale Sr. had a chance to win he did whatever it took, which was to bump other cars, spin them out, drive through the grass.  He never felt he was wrong with most of his tactics to win and chalked it up to racing.Which I believe is fine. But when the shoe was on the other foot and Dale Sr. lost because of the way another driver went about winning, such as bumping or spinning him out, his statement would most always be that the driver shouldn’t be on the track or it was a dirty or an uncalled for maneuver. So if you are going to dish it out you have to take the same and be quiet.Dale Jr.

on the other hand hardly ever bad mouths another driver or place blame for happenings on the track.  He takes responsibility for incidents he causes. It’s no wonder he’s the most popular driver in my opinion because he leaves the bad mouthing on the track and goes out and does his job.Dale Jr has surpassed his dad as a class act.. York Islander Fan Central Has the following blog updates for June 25:* A blog on the restricted free agents the club needs to qualify throughout the organization.* An update on the poll grading the draft with some results that are surprising, given the reaction on Friday.* Another live interactive blog for July 1 is under consideration asking input on the best time, leaning toward 7 p.m. NY Times: Michael Brick had former Islander Brent Hughes comments about the Austin Ice Bats club he coached twice ceasing operations, along with the promotion’s “guaranteed fight night” for its fans. Toronto Sun: Lance Hornsby reports the Isles could have interest in waived forward Kyle Wellwood and that Andrew Raycoft and Scott Clemmenson were also placed on waivers along with Darcy Tucker being bought out of the final three years of his contract by Toronto as of Wednesday.Sportsnet.ca: Chris Nichols does a fantasy breakdown of the top picks in the NHL with a profile of Islanders selection Josh Bailey. Los Angeles: Eric Stephens reports that Ducks owner Henry Samueli was suspended indefinitely by the NHL for his role in an alleged stock option scheme. He will remain an owner, and it will be business as usual for the most part but they won’t be involved with the team until an Aug 18 hearing. Nashville Tennessean: Brad Schrade has more on Predators investor William Del Biaggio entering bankruptcy court as he lists his share in the Predators as his top asset.

He owes creditors $88.4 million but that the Nashville-based investors that makes up the other owners, led by former medical waste company owner David Freeman say this will not effect operations. Ct Post: Michael Fornabaio, in his blog, is already hoping to get some RFA answers for the deadline, which is today.Espn : Scott Burnside has the new Lightning owners along with new coach Barry Melrose and adds if the NHL had more owners like that, and fewer under investigation, the league would be a much more happening place.. The British Government issued a ban today on the Zimbabwe cricket team, prohibiting any side from touring England on moral grounds. The ban comes into effect after an 18-month discussion between the Government and the ICC and will become active with the backdrop of a nation whose economy is in tatters.Since Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe seized power in the 80s, the country has been the center of extreme political unrest. This has culminated in Mugabe’s refusal to leave his position, despite losing a democratic election to the Movement for Democratic Change and their leader Morgan Tsvangirai. After a run-off was called between Mugabe and Tsvangirai, the MDC leader pulled out following violent and bloody attacks on his supporters. He since has sought refuge in the Dutch Embassy as he feared for his life.In reaction to this, the ECB have suspended all links with Zimbabwean cricket and cancelled their 2009 tour. They follow in the footsteps of Cricket South Africa, traditionally one of the staunchest supporters of the sport in Zimbabwe, who severed ties on Tuesday. The ICC will convene on July 2 to discuss a world ban that would prevent Zimbabwe from competing in the Twenty20 World Cup to be held in England. The decision has been welcomed by former captain Andy Flower, who famously wore a black armband with teammate Henry Olonga to mourn the death of democracy in his homeland during the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. He said, “I support a suspension. We should not have normal relations with a country in such an abnormal state.”I’m no politician when it comes to the ICC but I do know that [Zimbabwe Cricket chairman] Peter Chingoka is part of Mugabe’s despicable clan and the fact that he’s allowed to prance around with the ICC colours on and sit on ICC committees is embarrassing”.Mugabe’s regime has brought Zimbabwe nothing but turmoil in recent years, with the economy on its knees and entire communities living in fear of violence through their political beliefs. These actions might not turn the tide of Zimbabwean politics but it might just send a message to those with the ability to enforce change that some parts of the global community will not stand for what isoccurring. If the United Nations follow the lead of the ICC, Mugabe might not be able to cling on to power for much longer. The fact that Zimbabwe’s most famous cricketer in recent times has spoken out in fervent support of the decision to stop his side playing tells its own story.Cricket might not be able to change the world, but it might just cause some people to sit up and take notice. .

5-8 with a 4.06 ERA. Those are the glaring statistics of last year’s Cy Young Award winner out of Cleveland. After putting up stellar numbers (second, in my opinion, to those of Josh Beckett) last season, one could say Sabathia has not fully recovered from his faux pas committed in last year’s ALCS where he went 0-2 with a 10.45 ERA (again, against an untouchable Beckett- 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA). This turn of events and Jekyll and Hyde type of performance by CC Sabathia has me not only wondering why in the world teams are thinking of selling the farm in order to acquire him this year, but also creates the question- is he one of the most overrated pitchers in baseball? It’s hard for me to find the argument that he isn’t, but I’m sure I’ll get plenty of wall posts by outraged Indians fans. And why wouldn’t they be? Their city has waited a long time for a championship in any sport (the longest of any with active teams currently in play). But to put the hopes of a championship on Sabathia’s shoulders, given his recent performances, just doesn’t seem right.
