During this second round most teams will already have made a major contribution to their starting positions or by adding depth. The 2010 NFL Draft has the most defensive depth to have ever entered the draft My second round consist mostly defensive players again. Some of the higher names in this second round mock draft are Brandon Spikes, Jonathan Dwyer, and Sean Lee.33 St.

Louis Rams – WR Arrelious BennThe Rams are in need of a true number one wide receiver Benn is a strong and shifty runner after the catch. He catches the ball naturally away from his frame and has good body control and can make the acrobatic catch.34. Detroit Lions – LB Brandon SpikesInside linebacker Brandon Spikes would be a great piece to the already growing line-backing core of the Lions Brandon Spikes has great playmaking instincts. He may not show top speed but his awareness usually allows him to be the first to the ball He plays with attitude and is a leader on the field.35. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – LB Navorro BowmanTampa Bay has not been able to find a suitable replacement for Derrick Brooks Bowman could be a good addition to Barrett Rudd Shows a good feel for sniffing out screens and draws. I really doubt opposing offenses will be able to turn the corner on Bowman.36. Kansas City Chiefs – S Nate AllenThe Chiefs were overwhelmed with the poor play of their safeties in 2009.

They cannot wait to draft a safety after this round; they need an impact player right now.37. Washington Redskins – RB Ryan MathewsThe possibility of Clinton Portis getting pushed out of Washington, Ryan Mathews could come in and be another 1,000 yard rusher through Shanahan’s offense. Mathews is a one-cut runner who doesn’t waste much time with a great burst through the hole Mathews has one heck of a stiff arm.38. Cleveland Browns – NT Cam ThomasCam Thomas was underrated until the Senior Bowl came around, now he is in the talk of the best defensive tackles. Thomas has the size with massive strength and good overall speed. There are a lot of trade speculations with Shaun Rogers, so Thomas could be the 3-4 nose tackle the Browns are looking for.

Thomas rarely gives up ground and does a good job of locking out arms and driving the lineman back into the backfield.39. Oakland Raiders – OT Charles BrownCharles Brown is a bit underrated, while he consistently showed his high motor and aggressiveness until the whistle Brown has the natural intangibles for an offensive tackle. He is a bit undersized in weight but a few cheese burgers will change that. Brown should be the most athletic offensive tackle after the NFL Combine. He is a pretty solid all around offensive tackle and should be able to excel at either tackle position.40. Buffalo Bills – LB Ricky SappBuffalo is in the mist of switching to a 3-4 defense this year. Not sure how they will do it, but picking up Ricky Sapp would be a step in the right direction.
