He’s played in 241 games, only five less than Fran Tarkenton, the NFL’s all-time leader for games played by a quarterback. His 58,179 yards, 369 touchdowns, and 4,286 completions would put him third on the NFL’s all-time list for all three categories. I think that’s pretty impressive for a guy who was too short to play quarterback.. This morning, ESPN reported that Ken Griffey Jr. would possibly be willing to waive his no-trade clause in order to be traded to the Tamp Bay Rays.  While little more was said about the story, it did appear to imply that a deal has already been proposed between the Reds and the Rays.

While there is still much uncertainty as to whether or not such a trade will become a reality, I for one think that it would be an amazing deal for the Rays. Here’s why:-        Many feel the Rays will not be able to hold on to their willing ways due to lack of experience and veteran leadership. Who better to lead and mentor a young club than Ken Griffey Jr.?-        The Rays are a potent offense, but they could use a little extra pop from their DH spot. Griffey would fill that role nicely.-        Playing the outfield is taking a toll on Griffey’s body. Playing DH in the American league could extend Griffey’s career by years. Who knows, Griffey could end up joining the 700 club after all if this trade is made.-        Tampa Bay has struggled in fan attendance since its inception into Major League Baseball. What better way to boost attendance then to add one of the greatest and most popular players in the history of baseball?-        The Rays already have a plethora of minor league talent and can definitely afford to trade away a couple of B level prospects.

Obtaining the aging Griffey shouldn’t take too much more than that for the Rays. All in all, I believe this would be an amazing move for the Tampa Bay Rays, for all of the aforementioned reasons. Feel free to let me know what you think of the potential deal.. 1988 Peach Bowl: Tennessee Volunteers vs. Indiana HoosiersAtlanta-Fulton County Stadium, Atlanta, GeorgiaJanuary 2, 1988Mizlou TV SportsBackground: Tennessee finished the regular season 9-2-1, dropping games to Alabama and Boston College.  This team had a flair for the dramatic, coming from behind four times in the fourth quarter (one game being the tie against Auburn). The Hoosiers finished the season 8-3, beating Michigan and Ohio State in the same year for the first time in a century.  This set up another SEC vs. lighter), David Cutcliffe, and Randy Sanders (still a backup QB) were all talking. Impact: Indiana had a solid season and had a few more decent seasons before becoming a Big Ten doormat from 1995-2006.  This was the Volunteers’ fifth comeback game in 1987 and it gave the Vols their first 10-win season since 1972.  However, the Vols would not get another win in 1988 until October 22. Rating: Another fun comeback win for the Vols.  However, being up 21-3 early meant the Big Orange should not have been in that situation.  But it proved once again that the Vols were cool in the clutch: ***1/2 Next Game: Tennessee vs Auburn, 1989. Let’s take a trip down memory lane.Pretend you are Joe Namath.Your team just made it to the first true Super Bowl.

I’m still not sure what happened that day at the Orange Bowl, however; it’s still hard to account for.”But this game was more than a great upset, Namath paved the way for the NFL today. His victory finally showed the NFL that the AFL was a force to be reckoned with, and there was finally a merger between the two.It also set the stage for many other guarantees after that.Although guarantees have become overplayed and are now being used by backup safeties, at that time, a guarantee meant something.Joe Namath changed football with that one game, and it was the greatest accomplishment of all time.I’m Joe W.Information and quotes for this article were found on wikipedia . 1)     Contact: A-Alex has amazing plate coverage, thereby allowing him to make contact with the ball at either end of the plate.2)     Power: A+Alex may hang up his cleats one day as the all time home run king in Major League baseball.
